Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner to perform focused medical evaluations, manage diagnostics, and facilitate Veteran interactions without providing direct treatment or medication prescription. The primary goal is to deliver comprehensive evaluations, review medical histories, and ensure accurate documentation in accordance with VA requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-person, focused medical evaluations on all bodily systems.
- Thoroughly review medical history, service records, and previous exams to understand the Veteran's claimed conditions.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work, ECGs, and spirometry when necessary.
- Explain the examination process to Veterans and confirm their claimed conditions.
- Fill out Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) and Medical Opinions (MOs) through a web-based portal.
- Analyze data and medical literature to provide requested medical opinions.
- Complete and submit all exam documentation within 24–48 hours of the appointment.
- Adhere to the role's non-treatment focus and follow established emergency protocols.

Skills

- Proficiency in analyzing VA medical records and related medical literature.
- Strong skills in professional communication and informed-care decision-making.
- Knowledge of appropriate protocols for medical or behavioral health emergencies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Effective time management skills to meet strict 24-48 hour deadlines.
