Job Summary
The Substance Abuse Counselor provides entry-level clinical services to individuals struggling with substance use disorders (SUD). While under the direct supervision of a licensed professional, the Alcohol and Drug Trainee (ADT) will facilitate group and individual counseling, conduct assessments, and assist in the development of treatment plans. This role is designed for individuals currently pursuing their full certification/licensure and requires strict adherence to ethical standards and state regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Case Management: Maintain a caseload of clients, ensuring all documentation (progress notes, discharge summaries, etc.) is completed within the required timeframe.
- Clinical Counseling: Facilitate psychoeducational groups and individual counseling sessions focused on relapse prevention, coping skills, and recovery maintenance.
- Assessment & Intake: Assist in conducting initial screenings and comprehensive assessments to determine the appropriate level of care.
- Treatment Planning: Collaborate with the clinical team to develop, review, and update individualized treatment plans based on patient progress.
- Crisis Intervention: Identify and respond to clinical crises or emergencies using de-escalation techniques and established safety protocols.
- Compliance: Ensure all activities meet state licensing board requirements and HIPAA privacy standards.
Qualifications
- Active Maryland ADT License
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of previous Addiction Treatment experience, including organizing and running large group therapy sessions.
Skills
- Ability to manage a caseload of 30 patients
