Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Patient Representative who will act as the main point of contact for patients with inquiries about their accounts. This position involves handling a high volume of patient interactions, approximately 300 calls per week, and requires strong problem-solving skills to investigate outstanding balances and claims processing issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Contact patients and respond to inbound calls to resolve account questions and outstanding balances.
- Ensure patient statements are accurate and sent out daily.
- Manage accounts requiring external collections after internal efforts have been completed.
- Accept payments over the phone and set up payment arrangements as needed.
- Research account discrepancies, prepare patient credits, and coordinate approved refunds with accounting.
- Process bankruptcy notices in line with company policies.
- Update patient demographic information as needed to ensure statement accuracy.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of Self-pay, Billing CSR, or Collections Experience.
- Knowledge of working on EMRs (NextGen is a plus).
- Customer Service Oriented.
- Working Knowledge of EOBs.
- Computer literacy - able to work through multiple software applications and manage multiple screens.
Skills
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work efficiently with electronic medical records (NextGen experience is a plus).
- Capable of managing time effectively to handle a high volume of patient interactions.
Education
- High school diploma or GED.
Experience
- 1-2 years of experience in Self-pay, Billing CSR, or Collections.
