Job Summary
Our client is seeking an Addictions Counselor to provide individualized counseling sessions and lead treatment groups addressing addiction and related mental health concerns. This role involves coordinating referrals, collaborating with external agencies, and conducting comprehensive assessments to develop personalized treatment plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual counseling sessions to clients dealing with addiction issues.
- Lead and facilitate treatment groups to address addiction and related mental health concerns.
- Coordinate referrals and admissions to inpatient treatment programs for clients in need of intensive care.
- Collaborate with external agencies, including the court system, DYS, and CFSA, to advocate for clients and ensure access to necessary resources.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and screenings to evaluate clients' needs and develop personalized treatment plans.
- Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed, ensuring that goals are met within a 90-day timeframe.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, documenting all interactions and treatment interventions.
- Stay informed about the latest developments in addiction treatment and participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Must maintain current and valid Certified Addiction Counselor I certification as required by the District of Columbia.
Experience
- 1-3 years of experience in addiction counseling or related field.
- Experience with Credible or other Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems is highly desirable.
Skills
- Technical proficiency with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
