Job Summary
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will serve as a key member of the patient care team in an ambulatory setting. This position will work closely with providers across multiple specialties as well as with other clinical and administrative staff to deliver an exceptional patient experience that contributes to positive health outcomes for patients and a work culture in alignment with our values of Service-Oriented, Trust, Empathy, Safety, Inclusion, and Communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and interact with patients, visitors, vendors, and all faculty and staff.
- Prepare patients for their visit including pre-visit organization, escorting, rooming, documentation, and assisting as needed.
- Assist physicians with examinations, procedures, and therapies that do not require medical judgment.
- Perform phlebotomy duties and point-of-care tests.
- Ensure proper specimen preparation and timely delivery.
- Ensure labs are drawn, documented, and troubleshoot missing labs in Epic.
- Notify physicians and nurses of emergencies and perform first aid.
- Assist in sterile package handling under direct supervision.
- Perform additional specialty-specific duties based on clinical needs.
Qualifications
- BLS certification.
- Certified Medical Assistant from an accredited program.
Skills
- Proficient in EPIC EMR system.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Bilingual capabilities preferred.
