Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Patient Services Representative / Certified Medical Assistant (PSR/CMA) to join their team. This cross-trained role is pivotal in delivering outstanding patient service by supporting both front office functions and clinical care. As a central point of contact between patients, providers, and staff, the PSR/CMA coordinates patient flow, assists physicians with clinical tasks, and ensures the accuracy of scheduling, documentation, and financial processes per practice policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and check in patients, ensuring a welcoming reception area.
- Manage phone calls efficiently and schedule appointments as per guidelines.
- Verify patient demographics, insurance details, and manage records.
- Discuss appointment details, estimated costs, and financial responsibilities with patients.
- Process payments, manage past-due balances, and organize payment plans.
- Maintain patient charts, prepare encounters, handle medical records requests, and monitor office supplies.
- Escort patients to exam rooms, obtain vital signs, and assist with medical procedures.
- Conduct breathing tests, allergy testing, and administer injections as directed.
- Ensure emergency protocols are followed and provide patient education.
- Comply with HIPAA standards and maintain electronic medical records proficiency.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required.
Experience
- Minimum of 1-2 years in a medical office, clinical assisting, or customer service role.
- Experience with financial transactions and electronic health records.
Skills
- Proficiency in practice management and EMR systems.
- Strong multitasking, communication, and organizational skills.
- Able to maintain professionalism under pressure.
