Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Pharmacy Technician who will be responsible for ensuring accurate preparation and submission of pharmacy and medical claims. This role involves billing infusion drugs, processing DME claims, and explaining insurance coverage to patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit pharmacy and medical claims (CMS-1500, electronic submissions).
- Bill infusion drugs under pharmacy (NDC) and medical (HCPCS/J-codes) benefits.
- Process DME and supply claims when applicable.
- Ensure correct coding, units, modifiers, and place-of-service codes.
- Calculate patient responsibility (copays, deductibles, coinsurance).
- Set up payment plans if necessary.
- Explain insurance coverage and billing statements to patients.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of medical billing experience (home infusion or specialty pharmacy preferred).
- Knowledge of HCPCS, CPT, and ICD-10 coding, NDC billing, Medicare Part B & D, and Coordination of Benefits (COB).
- Experience with pharmacy management or revenue cycle software systems.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
