Job Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Urology Physician/Urologist responsible for the accurate assignment of CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes for professional urological services. This role involves translating complex operative reports into clean claims, acting as a bridge between the surgical team and the billing office to ensure maximum ethical reimbursement and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Surgical Coding: Review and code complex urological operative notes, including Oncology and Calculus disease among others.
- E/M Oversight: Assign appropriate Evaluation and Management levels for office visits and inpatient consultations.
- CCI Edit Management: Navigate NCCI edits to determine when procedures are bundled or separately reportable.
- Physician Querying: Collaborate with surgeons to clarify vague documentation.
- Denial Resolution: Analyze and appeal technical denials related to medical necessity or coding overlaps.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of urology coding experience.
- Active CPC (AAPC) or CCS-P (AHIMA) certification required. CUC credential highly preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience specifically in Professional Billing (PB).
- Deep understanding of the 90-day global surgical package.
Skills
- Technical skills in coding and billing processes.
- Ability to work remotely and collaborate with a multi-specialty surgical group.
Schedule/Shift
M-F Flex hours with an initial training period of about 2 weeks from 8am-4:30pm.
