Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled PACU Registered Nurse to join our client's team. The primary responsibilities include performing comprehensive pre-operative assessments, monitoring post-operative recovery, initiating IV fluids, and ensuring patient advocacy throughout the recovery process.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive pre-operative physical assessments and communicate data to anesthesia and OR teams.
- Monitor post-operative vital signs, manage pain and nausea, and intervene during adverse changes or arrhythmias.
- Initiate IV fluids, interpret EKGs/diagnostic tests, and safely administer medications.
- Provide individualized instructions to patients and families and conduct 48-hour follow-up calls.
- Maintain accurate patient charts, complete logbooks, and assist with inventory/supplies.
Qualifications
- Current State licensure as a Registered Nurse.
- Current Basic Life Support Certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
Experience
- 3-5 years of PACU or similar RN experience is preferred.
- Experience with EPIC Software is preferred.
Skills
- Technical proficiency in EKG interpretation and medication administration.
- Proficient in computer applications (Excel/Word) and ability to learn new software.
- Strong communication and patient advocacy skills.
