Job Summary
As a Medical Insurance Claims Representative, you are a key driver of our client's financial health. Reporting to the Business Office Leadership, you will manage the full lifecycle of patient accounts—from initial claim follow-up to final reimbursement. Your mission is to maximize cash flow and minimize bad debt by navigating the complexities of third-party payers (including Medicare/Medicaid) and self-pay accounts with precision, persistence, and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively monitor and follow up on outstanding accounts to ensure timely payment and reduce the "Days in A/R" metric.
- Analyze Explanations of Benefits (EOBs) to identify, troubleshoot, and correct coding or billing discrepancies.
- Act as a primary liaison between the facility and insurance carriers to resolve disputed claims and ensure adherence to contract terms.
- Maintain meticulous records of all collection efforts, correspondence, and account adjustments within the patient billing system.
- Evaluate self-pay accounts to negotiate sustainable payment plans and manage the transition of delinquent accounts to external collection agencies.
- Administer government contracts (Medicare/Medicaid) and perform comprehensive audits of accounts assigned to third-party recovery services.
Qualifications
- Healthcare Insurance Collections (preferably with ambulatory surgery centers).
- Professional demeanor (reliable, strong communication).
- Understanding the process of reviewing medical necessity as it relates to reimbursements & potential denials.
Skills
- Previous experience with Advantx (EMR/Billing System).
- Experience supporting revenue cycle functions for an ambulatory surgery center.
