Job Summary
Our client is seeking an Insurance Accounts Receivable Specialist who will be responsible for collecting payments on a designated portion of insurance accounts receivable and performing follow-up activities in compliance with federal and state regulations. The role also includes reviewing and appealing denied claims when appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
- Contact insurance carriers to monitor claim status and confirm timely processing and payment.
- Manage assigned accounts based on priority level, independently handling billing activities while adhering to all applicable insurance guidelines and CMS regulations.
- Refile claims that have not received a response or are missing from the payer’s system, ensuring submission within contractual filing deadlines.
- Investigate unpaid or denied claims, analyze coding for accuracy, and submit appeals when appropriate to secure reimbursement.
- Update patient demographic or insurance information as needed to ensure accurate and “clean” claim submission.
- Review and process insurance credit balances, preparing documentation for refund approval when required.
- Maintain accuracy standards in alignment with departmental error rate expectations.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of strong Insurance A/R (not patient), reconsiderations and denials experience.
- Knowledgeable with commercial and AZ government payers.
- Active knowledge of CMS guidelines, contracted insurance guidelines, and coding policies.
- High School Diploma or GED.
Skills
- Proficiency in insurance claims processing and follow-up.
- Strong analytical skills for investigating denied claims.
- Effective communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail.
Additional Requirements
- Comfortable working Monday to Friday with an 8-hour shift between 6 am and 5 pm.
- Flexibility in shift timing during the first two weeks.
