Primary Care Physician (MD/DO)

Position Overview

We are seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Primary Care Physician to provide comprehensive outpatient care to Veterans within a large, integrated federal healthcare system in the Finger Lakes region. This is an onsite role focused on high-quality, patient-centered care with a predictable schedule and strong interdisciplinary support.

You will serve as the lead clinician for a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) and manage a balanced panel of patients in a setting designed to prioritize continuity, quality, and work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care

• Provide primary care services to an average of 12–13 patients per day, including acute, new, and routine visits

• Perform comprehensive histories and physical examinations

• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions

• Develop individualized treatment plans

Documentation & Systems

• Complete all clinical documentation using CPRS

• Close all patient encounters by the end of each shift

• Utilize VistA Imaging for clinical documentation and order entry

Health Promotion

• Direct ongoing outpatient care

• Conduct preventive care, health education, and disease prevention activities

Required Qualifications

Clinical Credentials

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in:

  • Family Medicine (ABFM), or

  • Internal Medicine (ABIM)

• Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory

• Active BLS and ACLS certification (or equivalent)

• Active DEA registration

• National Provider Identifier (NPI)

Technical & Clinical Skills

• Fluency in spoken and written English

• Proficiency with CPRS and VistA Imaging

• Ability to manage diverse patient populations and complex medical conditions

• Strong diagnostic and communication skills, including timely follow-up of test results

Schedule & Work Location

Core Schedule

• Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

• 40 hours per week

• 30-minute unpaid lunch

• No weekends

• No federal holidays (11 annually)
