Job Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Counselor responsible for providing individual and group counseling services. The Counselor will facilitate therapy sessions, conduct assessments, and maintain thorough documentation to support client recovery and stabilization. The role involves collaborative efforts with housing managers and utilizing telehealth services when necessary.
Responsibilities / Job Duties
- Provide individual and group counseling (approximately 5 clients/day on average)
- Facilitate groups and complete follow-up documentation
- Conduct intakes, assessments, and treatment planning
- Perform crisis intervention and client stabilization
- Collaborate with housing case managers and conduct hotel wellness checks for clients in crisis housing
- Deliver services via telehealth when appropriate
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in ECW (eClinicalWorks) and HCC systems
- Use Outlook calendar for scheduling and visibility
- Complete DAP notes and all required clinical documentation within session expectations
Minimum Education and Experience Qualification Requirements
Education
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in chemical dependency counseling or related field
- QMHA, CADC-I (or higher), or equivalent from CA-approved certifying bodies
Qualifications
- Minimum two years of relevant experience working with substance use disorders, addiction recovery, psychosis, trauma, LGBTQ+, persons of different cultural backgrounds, unhoused population, and various socio-economic backgrounds
- Prior experience and knowledge in an addiction recovery and/or MAT (medication-assisted treatment) environment
Experience & Skills
- Experience working with substance use disorders, recovery, trauma, psychosis, and high-acuity populations
- Ability to relate authentically to clients
- Strong follow-up skills and persistence with hard-to-reach clients
- Comfortable with technology and learning complex systems (ECW)
- High integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to self-manage without micromanagement
Schedule / Shift
Hours: 8:45 AM – 5:30 PM, Lunch: 45 minutes, Office closure: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM daily, Workweek: 40 hours
