Job Summary
We are seeking a Hospitalist to manage assigned accounts from billing until payment or referral to an outside agency. This role requires effective interaction with both internal and external customers and adherence to policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will present a professional image while working in the Business Office.
Responsibilities / Job Duties
- Maintain targeted level of days receivable for assigned accounts.
- Monitor high dollar accounts with inventory over 10k, ensuring regular follow-up for financial impact.
- Prepare cumulative payer reports for stop loss reimbursement at final billing and monitor high dollars.
- Maintain and update payer stop loss threshold provision listing for the PFS team.
- Research and resolve disputes or questions on accounts, ensuring timely and complete documentation and follow-up.
- Effectively interact with patients and guarantors, resolving account problems satisfactorily.
- Maintain and update an individual procedure manual.
- Review accounts to ensure correct posting of payments and adjustments.
- Prepare claim detail summaries for payer projects and escalate trends to management.
- Assist with managed care contract concerns and participate in payer conference calls discussing real-time trends/issues.
- Validate and reconcile final payer project summary statistics for clean data presentation.
- Provide minutes of collector networking meetings weekly.
- Demonstrate knowledge of DRG/Per Diem/Contract reimbursement and authorization/reimbursement regulations.
- Handle account appeals per policy and clarify financial/hospital policies to patients.
- Ensure a high degree of accuracy and demonstrate proficiency in utilizing CPT/ICD-10 and UB-04 reference material.
- Display effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Qualification Requirements
Qualifications
- Medical collection knowledge and experience with payers like Blue Cross, LA Care, and Healthnet.
- Understanding of denials and familiarity with the collection process.
- 3-5 years of Facility A/R experience preferred.
- Meditech experience and strong understanding of complex claims and a variety of payer experience preferred.
- Multitasking skills and willingness to work fully onsite.
Schedule / Shift
8:30am - 5:00pm, 5 days a week.
