↵Registered Dietitian – Home Nutrition Support
Pay: $38–$48 per hour (dependent on experience)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM (local time zone: EST, CST, or PST)
Location: Remote
Duration: 6 months, contract-to-hire
Job Summary
The Registered Dietitian (RD) will support a growing home nutrition support program with a strong clinical emphasis on Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN). This role is responsible for developing and implementing clinical, operational, and marketing strategies while providing daily clinical management of parenteral nutrition patients across multiple locations.
The ideal candidate is highly experienced in custom-compounded TPN (not Clinimix), comfortable working autonomously, and confident making real-time adjustments to both macronutrients and micronutrients. This position partners closely with pharmacy, nursing, and sales teams to ensure safe, effective, and scalable patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care & TPN Management
- Provide daily clinical management of parenteral nutrition patients, including comprehensive nutrition assessments and individualized care plans
- Manage complex TPN therapy, including:
- Adjusting electrolytes (potassium, sodium, magnesium, phosphate)
- Managing micronutrients (trace elements, minerals, vitamins)
- Modifying macronutrients (calories, protein, fluids)
- Write or co-write custom TPN orders (full writing privileges strongly preferred)
- Review new enteral and parenteral nutrition orders to ensure:
- Clinical appropriateness and safety for the home setting
- Use of custom-compounded formulations rather than standardized Clinimix
- Compliance with formulary and insurance/payment pathways
- Evaluate patients for initiation of home PN and coordinate therapy setup
Education & Collaboration
- Educate patients, caregivers, and clinicians on EN/PN therapies (via phone or in person)
- Lead or participate in daily and weekly PN case discussions with pharmacy and nursing
- Collaborate with account managers and regional sales directors to support territory growth and client relationships
- Maintain expertise in EN/PN products, clinical guidelines, and reimbursement standards
Quality, Growth & Operations
- Monitor clinical KPIs including patient census, satisfaction, assessment quality, and performance improvement
- Identify gaps in care or process and implement action plans
- Assist with onboarding, training, and education of dietitians, sales teams, and nutrition support staff
- Participate in an on-call Registered Dietitian rotation
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and regulatory standards
Required Qualifications
- Registered Dietitian (RD) with active state license or certification
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on enteral and parenteral nutrition experience
- Direct experience managing TPN patients, including:
- Electrolyte and micronutrient adjustments
- Custom-compounded TPN formulations (not Clinimix-only)
- Experience working autonomously in clinical decision-making
- TPN writing privileges strongly preferred
- Board Certification in Nutrition Support (CNSC) or intent to obtain within 1 year
- CPR certification (if patient-facing)
- Comfortable working independently in a remote or field-based environment
- Intermediate Microsoft Office proficiency
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- Board Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC)
- Home infusion or home health experience
- Oncology nutrition experience
- Sales or marketing exposure
- Advanced degree in nutrition or business
