Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Patient Access Representative responsible for verifying patient demographic and insurance information, managing insurance verifications, authorizations, and pre-certifications, and providing exceptional customer service. The position also requires generating and reviewing necessary patient and insurance reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure patient demographic and insurance information is complete and accurate.
- Obtain accurate insurance information from patients and physician office staff.
- Use Cerner databases for patient admission and registration.
- Coordinate insurance verification and authorization/pre-certification processes.
- Document VOB details including co-pays, deductibles, and benefits.
- Ensure CPT and ICD-10 codes support medical necessity as ordered by the physician.
- Provide world-class customer service and maintain strong patient relations.
Qualifications
- Basic office and keyboarding skills, including typing at least 40 wpm.
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, private insurance coverage, ICD-10, and CPT codes.
- Experience verifying insurance coverage, benefits, co-pays, and deductibles across multiple payers.
- Proficient computer skills, including data entry and the use of multiple databases.
Skills
- Effective telephone skills for accurate information relay.
- Strong interpersonal skills and clear verbal communication.
- Ability to explain insurance coverage and financial responsibilities empathetically.
- Experience obtaining authorizations for surgeries, outpatient testing, and procedures.
