Job Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join their team. This role involves both clinical support and administrative coordination, ensuring seamless patient care and efficient medical office operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Intake: Room patients, obtain accurate vital signs, and update medical histories (medications, allergies, and chief complaints).
- Clinical Triage: Assist in screening patient calls and portal messages, escalating urgent concerns to the nursing or provider team.
- Lab Work: Perform basic point-of-care testing, specifically urine dips, pregnancy tests, and specimen collection.
- Injections: Administer intramuscular and subcutaneous injections under provider supervision.
- Procedure Prep: Set up exam rooms for OB/GYN procedures and assist providers during exams.
- Authorization Management: Initiate and track Prior Authorizations for medications, imaging, and specialized procedures.
- Medical Documentation: Manage and process FMLA and Disability paperwork for obstetric and surgical patients.
- Pharmacy Liaison: Process prescription refill requests and coordinate between providers and pharmacies.
- Patient Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for patient inquiries.
- Records Management: Maintain digital patient charts with adherence to HIPAA guidelines.
Qualifications
- Certification: CMA (AAMA), RMA (AMT), or NHA Required.
- Education: Medical Assistant diploma required from an accredited school.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a medical office setting. Experience in Women’s Health or OB/GYN is a significant plus.
- Experience in Adult Primary Care, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Urgent Care is also accepted.
- EPIC experience required.
- High level of empathy and discretion; ability to handle sensitive reproductive health topics professionally.
- Exceptional organizational skills to manage high volume of FMLA and authorization paperwork.
Schedule/Shift
Monday-Friday: 8am-4:30pm
- Parking not covered, nearby garages ~10/day.
