Job Summary
The Prior Authorization Specialist will play a crucial role in obtaining necessary authorizations for surgeries in a local hospital's surgical department within the disciplines of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology. This position requires a balanced use of both insurance portals and direct communication with insurance providers, handling complex authorizations efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtain authorizations for surgical procedures related to Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology.
- Work equally within insurance portals and directly with insurance providers via phone.
- Handle a daily volume of 20-30 authorization requests, including complex cases.
- Utilize the EPIC EMR system to manage daily tasks effectively.
- Coordinate with various insurance providers, both governmental and commercial.
Qualifications
- 2 or more years of registration experience within a clinic registration setting.
- Prior experience in obtaining authorizations is highly preferred.
- Experience in hospital patient access is highly advantageous.
Additional Requirements
The position requires availability from Monday to Friday, with shifts from either 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm.
