Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dedicated Counselor to join their team. The primary responsibilities of this position include providing individual and group counseling, facilitating groups, and conducting intakes, assessments, and treatment planning. The role requires performing crisis intervention and collaborating with housing case managers, as well as delivering services via telehealth when necessary.
Responsibilities / Job Duties
- Provide individual and group counseling (approximately 5 clients/day on average).
- Facilitate groups and complete follow-up documentation.
- Conduct intakes, assessments, and treatment planning.
- Perform crisis intervention and client stabilization.
- Collaborate with housing case managers and conduct hotel wellness checks when clients are placed in crisis housing.
- Deliver services via telehealth when appropriate (especially for homebound or unhoused clients).
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in ECW (eClinicalWorks) and HCC systems.
- Use Outlook calendar consistently for scheduling and visibility.
- Complete DAP notes and all required clinical documentation within session expectations.
Minimum Education and Experience Qualification Requirements
Education
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in chemical dependency counseling or related field.
- QMHA, CADC-I (or higher), or equivalent from CA-approved certifying bodies.
Experience
- Minimum two years of relevant experience working with substance use disorders, addiction recovery, psychosis, trauma, LGBTQ+, persons of different cultural backgrounds, unhoused population, and various socio-economic backgrounds.
- Prior experience and knowledge in an addiction recovery and/or MAT (medication assisted treatment) environment.
Skills
- Experience working with substance use disorders, recovery, trauma, psychosis, and high-acuity populations.
- Ability to relate authentically to clients.
- Strong follow-up skills and persistence with hard-to-reach clients.
- Comfortable with technology and learning complex systems (ECW).
- High integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to self-manage without micromanagement.
Schedule / Shift
- Hours: 8:45 AM – 5:30 PM
- Lunch: 45 minutes
- Office closure: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM daily
- Workweek: 40 hours
