Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Medical Billing Specialist responsible for executing auditing and processing tasks, surgical coding, charge reconciliation, and securing prior authorizations. The goal is to ensure accuracy in coding and billing processes, thereby supporting seamless revenue cycle operations and patient financial services.
Key Responsibilities
- Resolve coding corrections and manage payer-specific documentation requirements.
- Perform manual coding for Plastic Surgery OR Face Sheets and manage charge entry.
- Monitor submission workflows and collaborate with clinical teams to ensure billing timeliness.
- Secure authorizations across diverse payer mixes, ensuring diligent follow-up and documentation.
- Provide accurate patient cost estimates and resolve insurance benefit discrepancies.
- Manage assigned worklists for claim corrections, resubmissions, and denial appeals.
- Research insurance overpayments and facilitate refund workflows with required documentation.
- Act as a primary resource for billing inquiries via phone, email, and help desk channels.
- Assist leadership with data reporting, trend analysis, and process optimization initiatives.
- Mentor staff and lead training/onboarding for new team members.
- Contribute to departmental workshops and specialized project days to drive operational excellence.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in medical billing, A/R management, or revenue cycle operations.
- Proficiency in coding validation, payer rules, authorizations, and denial management.
- Demonstrated ability to independently resolve complex billing discrepancies.
- Strong analytical, communication, and staff training capabilities.
- Detail-oriented with a proven track record of effective time management.
- Preferred experience in Dermatology or Specialty settings.
Additional Requirements
- Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week with 1 remote day after training.
