Clinical Scribe
Details:
- Contract-to-Hire | 800 Hours
- Pay: $19–$21/hour
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday–Friday between 6:30 AM – 6:30 PM
- Dress Code: Scrubs
Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and confident Medical Scribe to support providers in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The scribe will be responsible for accurate documentation, chart summarization, and maintaining efficient patient flow. This role works exclusively within an EMR system and plays a vital part in ensuring accurate and efficient patient care documentation.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ year of in-person medical scribe experience
- Strong confidence and communication skills
- Tech-savvy and comfortable navigating EMR systems
- Active driver’s license and car insurance
- Open to floating throughout the greater San Antonio area
About this role:
- EMR: Work exclusively in a high-volume EMR system (NextGen)
- Patient Volume: 40–75 patients per day; very fast paced
- Travel: Must be open to commuting to multiple sites across the San Antonio area
- Occasional travel to satellite locations
- Ride-share transportation is provided for the furthest locations, and travel time is paid
- Schedule is released 2–3 weeks in advance
Job Responsibilities:
- Review patient charts and referring documents to understand diagnoses and care plans
- Communicate effectively with providers and care teams
- Document physician findings, assessments, treatment plans, and justifications accurately
- Enter ICD-10 and CPT codes accurately into patient charts
- Ensure necessary medications and diagnostic tools are available at assigned locations
- Maintain clinic flow by coordinating dilation needs and assisting staff as needed
- Assist during exams when appropriate, following provider direction
- Communicate clearly with patients and provide education materials when needed
- Update charts according to practice protocol and ensure charts are closed in a timely manner
- Confirm insurance authorizations prior to treatment
- Support communication among staff to minimize disruptions in patient flow
- Present patient forms to physicians when required
- Escort patients to the front desk and communicate follow-up needs
- Maintain exam room readiness, cleanliness, and supply levels
