Job Summary
Our client is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant responsible for reviewing patient charts, communicating effectively with healthcare practitioners, and ensuring the proper execution of patient care plans. The primary goals include documenting physician-patient interactions accurately, managing clinic workflows, and facilitating communication to support smooth clinic operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Review patient charts and documents from referring physicians to obtain knowledge of patient diseases and order diagnostics related to the care plan.
- Effectively communicate with all practitioners involved in the patient care plan.
- Assess and document special requirements related to patient treatments.
- Ensure the availability of drugs and diagnostic tools based on patient appointments.
- Summarize and document verbal exchanges during examinations accurately.
- Accurate ICD10 and CPT coding in patient charts.
- Communicate patient dilation needs and have the ability to dilate children.
- Assist during examinations as needed and manage medical emergencies.
- Observe and respond to patient verbal and non-verbal communication.
- Effectively communicate with patients regarding their diagnosis and respond to questions.
- Document amendments to patient charts as per protocols.
- Maintain the patient flow and confirm insurance authorizations.
- Facilitate communication between physicians and staff to minimize disruptions.
- Guide patients post-exam to ensure proper follow-up appointments are scheduled.
- Ensure examination rooms are stocked and safe for patient entry and exit.
- Notify physicians of schedule changes, especially emergencies.
