Job Summary
Our client is seeking a PSR Specialist to provide clerical and office support within a physician clinic. This role includes a variety of tasks such as reception, telephone handling, medical records management, charge entry, referrals, and retrieving medical information from internal and external systems. The specialist will also support the healthcare team and patients by facilitating, communicating, and collaborating to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patients. The position requires personal accountability for relationship-based care and alignment with organizational mission and core values.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments, revising as needed.
- Greet patients and caregivers, providing necessary assistance to ensure quality of care and professional conduct.
- Follow up with patients who miss appointments.
- Maintain thorough and confidential patient charts and records, including handling scanned documents.
- Accurately gather and process necessary information for medical records, referrals, and billing.
- Timely processing of medical records according to best practices.
- Utilize registry for pre-visit planning and optimize patient care needs.
- Plan for patient appointments, considering insurance and medical record needs.
- Obtain and process payments at the time of service.
- Verify and update demographic data in the electronic health record, addressing any communication or financial barriers.
- Provide culturally respectful care striving to understand patient priorities.
- Cross train in all clerical operations and assist other areas as needed.
- Participate in clinic-based meetings and maintain workspace and supplies.
- Manage phone communications, ensuring accurate messaging for providers.
- Use quality measures to improve patient outcomes and experience.
- Work effectively within inter-professional teams to deliver quality patient care.
- Contribute to continuous process improvement for patient satisfaction.
