About the Role
We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our growing virtual care team supporting patients living with neurodegenerative diseases. In this role, you’ll help ensure a seamless, compassionate patient experience by coordinating medical records, supporting specialist referrals, managing prior authorizations, and assisting neurologists during virtual visits.
You will serve as a vital bridge between patients, providers, and the broader care team—helping prepare clinical documentation, facilitate communication, and keep administrative and clinical workflows running smoothly. This is a fully remote opportunity within a mission-driven, fast-paced, technology-forward healthcare organization.
Key Responsibilities

Coordinate medical record retrieval and prepare documentation for provider review

Manage specialist referrals and prior authorizations with insurance payors

Virtually greet and room patients prior to telehealth appointments

Review and update patient information within the EHR, ensuring accuracy and HIPAA compliance

Serve as a liaison between patients, caregivers, and care teams

Assist neurologists and advanced practice providers during virtual encounters

Communicate with insurance companies, clinical partners, and internal departments to resolve issues

Support care coordination by identifying barriers and escalating complex issues when needed

Maintain high standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and quality

Participate in team meetings, trainings, and process improvement initiatives
Requirements
-
Active CMA or RMA certification

2+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical or telehealth setting

Strong understanding of HIPAA and patient privacy regulations

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-centered mindset

Proficiency with EHR systems and virtual communication tools

Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities

Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications

Experience handling and organizing medical records

Experience coordinating referrals and authorizations

Prior experience in a startup or rapidly growing healthcare organization

Bilingual in English/Spanish (preferred)

Familiarity with neurology or chronic disease management
