Job Summary
The Shipping Specialist will serve as the lead for site packaging and shipping needs. The role involves ensuring that packages are shipped in accordance with required laws and guidelines, maintaining the chain of custody during all parts of the packaging and shipping process, and scheduling and monitoring shipments for internal and external clients. Collaboration with various departments as required is also a key part of the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Package and ship according to local, state, federal, and international laws and guidelines set by national transport departments and/or the International Air Transport Association (lATA).
- Ensure permits and licenses for importing and exporting various biological and chemical materials are up to date.
- Maintain working knowledge of domestic and international import and export processes, including a strong understanding of Customs Invoice requirements.
- Monitor inbound and outbound shipments conforming to chain of custody protocols and guidelines, addressing issues promptly.
- Ensure integrity of the Cold/Cool Chain when shipping temperature-controlled packages.
- Manage data entry and inventory for outbound shipments and produce necessary documentation, including supporting Clinical Kit distribution.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain high levels of communication with internal and external clients.
- Coordinate and manage Couriers, Freight Forwarders, and Integrators as necessary.
- Maintain accurate inventory and stock levels of shipping supplies, ensuring equipment and packaging are properly calibrated and qualified.
- Operate warehouse-related equipment and perform general housekeeping duties as necessary.
- Recommend new systems, procedures, and technologies to improve team productivity and efficiency.
- Assist in maintaining stock at off-site storage facilities, working off-site a minimum of two days per week if applicable to the home site.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
