Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dedicated Medical Laboratory Scientist to join their team. The primary role involves supporting the South East Division in their commitment to providing exceptional cancer care. The position requires proficiency in performing phlebotomy, processing specimens, and maintaining laboratory equipment. The role also involves quality control adherence, proficiency testing, and acting as a resource for laboratory science information.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with phlebotomy and collect appropriate specimens from patients as ordered.
- Perform specimen analysis of Chemistry, Hematology, and Immunology specimens.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and perform routine maintenance.
- Participate in proficiency testing and prepare peripheral blood smears.
- Adhere to quality control policies and document all activities.
- Train employees in laboratory procedures and may oversee daily lab activities.
- Comply with OSHA and regulatory standards, properly dispose of hazardous materials.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field.
- Current state license if required; Certification by AMT, ASCP, or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of three years of experience in the field.
Additional Requirements
The role demands physical capabilities, including manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination, with extensive periods of sitting/standing. Frequent travel by air or automobile is required, comprising about 70% of the workweek.
