We are seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated Surgical Oncology Assistant to support two high-performing surgical oncology providers. This role is ideal for someone with Medical Assistance experience with in-office procedures, strong organizational skills and experience in surgical scheduling, patient communication, and front and back office coordination. This role will be located in Denver and Boulder with the ability to travel to multiple locations.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for patients, coordinating appointments, pre-op/post-op instructions, and follow-ups.
- Assist with oncology in-office procedures.
- Schedule surgical procedures and coordinate with hospitals or surgery centers.
- Obtain prior authorizations and verify insurance eligibility for surgical and office visits.
- Communicate effectively with the provider, patients, and external offices to ensure efficient case flow.
- Manage inbound calls, voicemails, and patient messages with professionalism and urgency.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the EMR system.
- Collect and process copays and other front desk financial responsibilities.
- Ensure HIPAA compliance and uphold patient confidentiality at all times.
- Room patients, take vital signs, and ensure all medical records and documentation are complete and prepared for the appointment.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a surgical scheduling or front office medical role.
- Must have Medical Assistant experience such as in-office procedures
- Familiarity with EMR systems (Greenway Intergy a plus).
- Knowledge of insurance plans, authorizations, and billing basics.
- Excellent communication, multitasking, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Schedule & Location:
- 8:30am-5pm Monday-Friday
- Monday & Tuesday at Denver Uptown location. Wednesday at Boulder location. Must be able to travel to multiple locations.
