Job Description Overview
Medix is working with a client to find a dedicated and skilled Physical Therapist for a rewarding travel assignment. This role is based at a main hospital campus and involves providing comprehensive physical therapy services across both Outpatient and Inpatient settings. This is an excellent opportunity for a clinician, including new graduates, to gain diverse experience in a dynamic hospital environment.
Responsibilities
The Physical Therapist is responsible for providing high-quality, evidence-based physical therapy services to a varied patient population.
- Provide direct patient care, including evaluation, treatment planning, and implementation of physical therapy interventions in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Treat a diverse patient population spanning various specialties, including but not limited to surgical, neurological, pediatric, geriatric, and vestibular cases.
- Manage a variable daily patient caseload depending on the complexity and type of case.
- Evaluate and assess patient functional status, movement dysfunction, and physical abilities to formulate an individualized plan of care.
- Implement therapeutic treatments, which may include manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, gait training, patient education, and use of specialized equipment.
- Continuously evaluate and record patient progress, modifying the treatment plan and trying new treatments as necessary to achieve functional goals.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and optimal patient care.
- Document all patient care services accurately and timely in the EMR, utilizing Epic-based platforms.
- Provide patient and family education regarding the recovery process, home exercise programs, injury prevention, and lifestyle modifications.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree or equivalent from an accredited physical therapy program.
- Active and unrestricted Wyoming (WY) Physical Therapist license or ability to obtain one prior to start.
- Ability to provide comprehensive Outpatient and Inpatient PT services to diverse patient populations.
- Proficiency or familiarity with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, specifically Epic-based platforms.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to providing safe, effective, and patient-centered care.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Previous experience in a mixed inpatient/outpatient hospital setting.
- Experience or interest in treating specific populations, such as pediatrics, neuro, or vestibular patients.
- Prior experience as a traveling clinician.
