Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist who will perform nuclear medicine procedures to assist in the diagnosis of disease or injury.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform nuclear medicine procedures as prescribed by a physician, ensuring technical quality of images and practicing radiation safety by applying ALARA principles.
- Assay, order doses, and prepare for patient use.
- Prepare patients for nuclear medicine procedures, providing instructions, assessing conditions, and preparing/injecting radiopharmaceuticals.
- Receive and record information regarding radioactive materials and pharmaceuticals following guidelines.
- Assess patients' previous exams/reports and ensure accuracy of referral forms.
- Perform related technical and administrative duties, maintain supplies and equipment, and participate in quality assurance monitoring.
- Continue professional development and potentially serve as safety designee for radiation safety requirements.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of nuclear medicine technology principles and procedures obtained through approved training program.
- Understanding of quality care and radiation safety standards (ALARA).
- Experience with both routine and specialized tests, and using radiology-related computer systems (RIS/PACS).
- Interpersonal skills for effective interaction with physicians, staff, and patients.
- Ability to start and maintain an IV, and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Current CPR certification recognized by the American Heart Association.
- Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) registry, or eligible for registry within one year of employment.
