Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Compounding Pharmacist to be responsible for ensuring that all sterile preparations comply with established standards and regulations. The primary goal is to compound and verify sterile preparations, oversee quality assurance procedures, and maintain a contamination-free environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Compound and verify sterile preparations in compliance with USP <797> and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Ensure proper aseptic technique, gowning, and cleanroom practices in all sterile compounding activities.
- Oversee and perform routine quality assurance procedures, including environmental monitoring, cleaning, and equipment checks.
- Review medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and compatibility.
- Provide guidance to pharmacy technicians and other staff in sterile compounding best practices.
- Maintain accurate compounding records, beyond-use dating, and documentation for compliance and traceability.
- Participate in internal audits, regulatory inspections, and ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
- Stay informed of updates to USP <797> and sterile compounding standards.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited school of pharmacy.
- Active and unrestricted pharmacist license in Florida.
- Demonstrated experience in sterile compounding and aseptic procedures.
- In-depth knowledge of USP <797>.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to a contamination-free environment.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Prior experience in a sterile compounding pharmacy, hospital IV room, or outsourcing facility.
- Certification or advanced training in sterile compounding (e.g., BCSCP or equivalent) is a plus.
Additional Requirements
This position requires working within ISO-classified cleanrooms and adherence to strict aseptic gowning and sterile technique. Standing for extended periods and lifting moderate weights may be required.
