Job Summary
The Patient Account Representative is responsible for providing high-quality customer service and collections support for Early-Out clients, patients, and guarantors. The primary goal of this position is to review, follow up on, and resolve patient account balances while ensuring compliance with all client policies, procedures, and applicable laws. This role requires accuracy, professionalism, and effective communication with patients, clients, third-party agencies, and internal teams.
Responsibilities / Job Duties

Review and evaluate assigned patient account files to determine appropriate collection actions.

Manage daily workflows to maximize recoveries and ensure client and patient satisfaction.

Communicate with patients/guarantors, insurance companies, and third parties to negotiate and monitor payment arrangements.

Process and post patient payments using client systems.

Research and verify debtor insurance eligibility; perform skip tracing as necessary.

Obtain documentation from clients for accounts under insurance filing or litigation, including invoices, statements, contracts, promissory notes, and related correspondence.

Maintain compliance with FDCPA, FCRA, and HIPAA regulations.

Perform additional duties as required or directed.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Post-secondary education in business, healthcare administration, or related field preferred.
Qualifications

Knowledge of FDCPA, FCRA, and HIPAA laws and procedures.

Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

High attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.

Ability to interpret complex healthcare account information.

Proficiency in standard office software and billing systems.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional environment.
Experience

Previous experience in medical billing, patient accounts, or healthcare collections preferred.

Experience in a customer service or revenue cycle management role is a plus.
Skills

Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and client billing systems; ability to navigate multiple databases and record-keeping software.

Soft Skills: Strong communication, empathy, professionalism, multitasking, and time management abilities.
