Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Patient Account Representative responsible for following up on outstanding Accounts Receivable including Commercial, Workers Compensation, Government Insurance, or Self Pay. The role involves resolving aged accounts and handling various related tasks to ensure compliance and achieve optimal performance.
Responsibilities / Job Duties
- Contact insurance companies and patients to resolve aged accounts.
- Write and file appeals with insurance carriers.
- Work on short paid encounters or outstanding balances.
- Read Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and verify payments are correct.
- Verify insurance benefits for Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid Payers.
- Verify status of pending claims and approximate dates of upcoming payments.
- Identify and correct billing errors and resubmit claims.
- Work on all payer denials.
- Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and Federal Privacy Law.
- Provide feedback to management regarding possible problems and areas of improvement.
- Answer customer calls, handle grievances, and provide excellent customer service.
- Maintain and exceed department standards for productivity and quality.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations for various payers.
- Participate in efforts to improve organizational effectiveness.
Minimum Education and Experience Qualification Requirements
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent certification.
Qualifications
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as within a team environment.
- Experience in managing multiple projects and grasping new concepts.
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial, and Workman's Comp Insurance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office with Excel skills.
- Working knowledge of the NextGen System.
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD-9/ICD-10 codes and medical terminology.
Experience
- Two to four years of Revenue Cycle experience in a healthcare environment, preferably within a Physical Rehab organization.
- Two to four years of prior Medical Receivable collections experience preferred.
- Experience with insurance systems, Medicare, and Medicaid online systems preferred.
Skills
