Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dedicated Medical Laboratory Technician who will perform testing in the pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of laboratory procedures. The position is crucial for ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of patient test results which aid in diagnosis, management, and treatment. The role involves communicating technical information, monitoring laboratory functions, and initiating corrective actions to enhance laboratory service and patient care.
Responsibilities / Job Duties
- Demonstrates proficiency and competence in clinical laboratory procedures with minimal supervision.
- Monitors test data, quality control, quality assurance, preventive maintenance, and proficiency testing.
- Notifies Laboratory Manager of any irregularities or test result influences.
- Troubleshoots equipment and test methods.
- Identifies and resolves unusual laboratory situations; notifies Laboratory Manager.
- Assists in evaluating new test procedures.
- Maintains safety protocols for chemical and biological hazards.
- Monitors supplies and reagents; notifies relevant parties of stock levels.
- May perform clerical or support duties such as phlebotomy or sample accessioning.
- Participates in educational workshops and seminars.
- Accepts responsibility for assisting in other work areas.
- Other duties as required.
Minimum Education and Experience Qualification Requirements
Qualifications
- Valid California Clinical Medical Technician license required.
Skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in computer systems including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
Additional Requirements
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
- Provide proof of COVID-19 vaccinations.
- Willing to work at different clinic locations.
- Must work flexible schedules.
- Take yearly flu shot or wear a mask during flu season and test for tuberculosis if required.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently and present information effectively.
- Ability to solve problems with limited communication and access.
