Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Medical Billing Specialist to engage in comprehensive health and wellness services, focusing on improving health equity and addressing healthcare barriers. This role requires the candidate to process medical claims efficiently and accurately, while prioritizing patient needs and delivering excellent customer service.
Responsibilities / Job Duties
- Codes items such as invoices, vouchers, expense reports, and check requests for proper entry into Allscripts.
- Uses critical thinking to interpret information, plan, and adjust work accordingly.
- Handles patient requests via phone or email and investigates billing problems.
- Prepares non-inventory purchase orders and batch reconciliation reports.
- Reconciles accounts and prepares monthly status reports and closings.
- Ensures efficiency, accuracy, and accountability of data and billing processes.
- Performs claims processing, checks “superbills” for accuracy, and posts payments.
- Bills payment sources within the required timeframe and resubmits denied payments.
Minimum Education and Experience Qualification Requirements
Education
- Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
Experience
- Two to three years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills
- Proficient in MS Word and Excel Software.
- Tech savvy with strong math skills.
- Effective communication and customer service skills.
