Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Compounding Pharmacy Technician responsible for mixing, preparing, and producing Compounded Sterile Products (CSP). The role includes maintaining the sterile compounding area (cleanroom) and adhering to all standard operating procedures under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform technical and aseptic manipulations in the ISO 5 laminar hoods.
- Compound all required types of sterile preparations accurately and in compliance with the batch record.
- Operate all compounding equipment accurately according to policy and procedure.
- Perform sterile techniques such as injecting active drug into sterile IV bags, filling syringes with medication for injection, and pooling vials into sterile empty bags with a repeater pump.
- Complete batch records for orders using good documentation practices and ensure drugs and supplies are in data before use.
- Ensure the compounding room and related equipment are cleaned and maintained daily pursuant to the Company’s SOPs and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Properly label and package finished products.
- Complete any other duties designated by the pharmacist and/or supervisor.
- Cooperate with team members to accomplish departmental goals.
- Understand and adhere to policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the job, completing all annual competencies and skills validations.
Qualifications
- Legally authorized to work in the job posting country.
- Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in Texas (TSBP) and/or (CPhT) required.
- ACPE Sterile products certification.
- IV compounding experience preferred.
- Knowledge of cGMP regulations as it pertains to 21 CFR 210, 21 CFR 211, and USP standards.
- Able to work a full shift with bunny suit garb and goggles in a sterile environment.
- Able to work weekends and overtime as required.
Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Proficiency in writing routine reports and correspondence.
- Effective public speaking skills before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Mathematical skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Competency in Database software, Development software, Internet software, Inventory software, Manufacturing software, Order processing systems, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.
Additional Requirements
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Able to stand for hours throughout the day.
- Must be able to garb and gown in a bunny suit and goggles.
