About the Role
We are seeking a Clinical Pharmacist Specialist – Emergency in Little River, South Carolina. This role is responsible for providing high-quality clinical pharmacy services in a hospital-based emergency setting, collaborating with healthcare providers, and supporting education and research initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Works as a team member with a positive attitude when interacting with other department employees including pharmacy students and residents in addition to other hospital personnel.

• Displays expertise in medication therapy and exhibits the clinical and professional skills to positively interact with physicians, nurses, residents, students, and other health care practitioners.

• Knows and follows institutional pharmacy policies and procedures and medication policies and procedures.

• Knows and follows state and federal laws regarding dispensing of medications.

• Accurately interprets and enters medication orders in the computer for drug administration.

• Contacts the provider in a timely manner when there is a concern about a medication order as needed.

• Provides drug information, drug therapy recommendations, and education to physicians, nurses, patients, pharmacy staff, pharmacy residents and students related to assigned clinical areas.

• Reports adverse drug events (ADE) within assigned clinical areas.

• Develops department educational/monitoring tools and in-services to promote continued growth of clinical pharmacy services and up to date practice as it pertains to assigned clinical areas.

• Develops and maintains policies and protocols as necessary related to assigned clinical areas.

• Participates in hospital committees related to assigned clinical areas where pharmacy involvement is needed.

• Reviews appropriate use of medications to include optimization of use and cost considerations.

• Serves as a preceptor to pharmacy residents and students, including participation in research as it applies to assigned clinical areas.

• Contributes to the continued development of the practice of the profession of pharmacy.

• Completes other duties as assigned.

Additional responsibilities for the Emergency Medicine Pharmacist:

• Participates in emergency response and resuscitation including, but not limited to, cardiac arrest, trauma, stroke, STEMI, and RSI.

• Performs ED culture callback according to process outlined in collaborative practice agreement.

• Assists with outpatient prescriptions as outlined in collaborative practice agreement.

Qualifications

• PGY1 required.

• Ability to work independently required.

• Current, unrestricted license to practice pharmacy OR eligible for licensure to practice pharmacy in the state of South Carolina (licensure required within 3 months of hire).

Requirements

• Pharmacist Registered in South Carolina.
