Job Description Overview
Medix is partnering with a Critical Access Hospital and its affiliated Skilled Nursing Facility in a rural community to find an experienced and flexible Physical Therapist for a travel assignment. The need for this position is due to current travelers rolling off. This role requires a versatile clinician who is comfortable providing physical therapy services across all areas of the small facility, ensuring continuous quality care for their diverse, but generally lower-acuity, patient base.
Responsibilities
The Physical Therapist will provide comprehensive services to patients within the Outpatient department, the hospital (acute care/rehab), and the Skilled Nursing Facility, performing duties that include, but are not limited to:
- Provide direct patient care, including evaluation, treatment planning, and implementation of physical therapy interventions across outpatient, inpatient, and SNF settings.
- Manage a varied caseload, focusing on common orthopedic conditions (e.g., shoulders, wrists) and general rehabilitation needs. The facility does not typically treat highly acute patients.
- Perform therapy utilizing various modalities, therapeutic exercises, soft tissue mobilization, gait training, neuromuscular re-education, orthotic/prosthetic training, and taping.
- Collaborate with the SNF team on restorative program development, as desired.
- Document all patient care services accurately and timely in the EMR.
- Maintain flexibility and adapt quickly to shifting needs and priorities across the different facility units (Hospital, Outpatient, SNF).
- Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, displaying strong team player attributes.
- Adhere strictly to all state and federal regulations regarding physical therapy practice and patient care.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree or equivalent from an accredited physical therapy program.
- Active and unrestricted California (CA) Physical Therapist license.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Demonstrated experience in Outpatient Physical Therapy.
- Comfortable and flexible working across multiple settings: outpatient, acute care/rehab, and skilled nursing facilities.
- Strong team player attitude.
- Ability to perform a full range of physical therapy treatments including modalities, therapeutic exercise, and manual techniques.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Minimum of five years of professional experience as a Physical Therapist is preferred, but flexible.
- Experience in restorative program development within a skilled facility.
