Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Laboratory Technician for a contract engagement. The role involves participating in a Technical Dress Rehearsal (TDR) in preparation for an Epic go-live. As part of the team, the technician will perform hands-on workstation and peripheral testing, validate Epic functionality, and log testing results. This position is best suited for professionals with Tier 2 desktop support experience and strong troubleshooting skills, preferably within a clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform scripted workstation and Epic application testing across ~4,127 endpoints, accommodating a ~30% retest rate.
- Validate peripherals such as printers, scanners, badge readers, cameras, and signature pads.
- Log test results accurately in Epic Hyperspace or designated tools, marking outcomes and capturing defect details.
- Provide Tier 2 desktop support: installing, configuring, and troubleshooting hardware/software as needed during testing.
- Escalate unresolved issues to TDR Leads and assist with retests after fixes are applied.
- Follow assignments and throughput goals set by TDR Leads, participating in daily stand-ups and debriefs.
- Communicate effectively with clinic managers to minimize workflow disruption.
- Be available for flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and participate in an on-call rotation.
Qualifications
- 2–3+ years of desktop support or Tier 2 IT support experience, preferably in healthcare.
- Proficiency with workstation setup, imaging, device configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with clinical peripherals like printers, scanners, and badge readers.
- Familiarity with Epic or other EHR testing processes.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently while following structured test scripts.
Additional Requirements
- On-site presence in the designated area is required throughout the engagement.
- Standard CST daytime hours with occasional evenings and weekends.
- Regional/local candidates preferred; limited travel/mileage reimbursement available per project agreement.
