Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Records Clerk to support our Health Information Management team. The primary focus of this role will be uploading backlogged documents, with additional responsibilities related to managing, maintaining, and processing patient health information. The ideal candidate will ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with HIPAA while providing excellent service to both internal and external customers.
Responsibilities:

Upload and organize backlogged documents into NextGen.

Scan, upload, and manage batches of records from clinics.

Download and process faxes from Kno2.

Break down old charts for scanning and/or destruction.

Answer and route incoming phone calls.

Process records for appointments, messages, lab reports, and dictations in a timely manner.

Follow release of information guidelines in accordance with policy and HIPAA regulations.

Maintain control and security of medical records.

Assist the Medical Record Manager with administrative functions and projects as needed.

Promote the mission, vision, and core values of the organization.

Build and maintain positive working relationships with staff, providers, and leadership.

Support performance improvement initiatives within the department.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework in healthcare or medical records preferred.

Prior experience in medical records, scanning, or document management strongly preferred.

Familiarity with NextGen and Kno2 is a plus.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.
