We are seeking an experienced Lead Boiler Operator to oversee boiler room operations and ensure safe, efficient, and compliant performance of critical plant systems. This role is responsible for conducting inspections, monitoring system performance, leading operators, and performing preventative maintenance on boilers and related equipment. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct monthly inspections of boiler facilities and ensure proper boiler feed water chemistry.

• Supervise and support boiler operators to ensure tasks are completed accurately.

• Monitor and record operating data (fuel use, water levels, pressures, temperatures, hours of operation, etc.).

• Adjust manual or automated controls to maintain prescribed operating ranges, switch to backup systems, or safely shut down equipment.

• Inspect equipment regularly to detect malfunctions or needed repairs, adjustments, or lubrication.

• Perform equipment maintenance, including replacing valves, gaskets, gauges, bearings, burners, and fittings.

• Complete minor preventative maintenance on water systems, steam generators, chillers, compressors, and pumps.

• Document operations and maintenance activities in the shift logbook.

• Monitor alarms via the Building Management System (BMS), investigate root causes, and notify supervisors of issues.

• Oversee in-house and contractor work performed in the Boiler Room and Critical Utility Room.

Minor Maintenance Tasks Include:

• Replace gauges, motors, belts, filters, oils, gaskets, valves, and fuses.

• Clean equipment, sight glasses, and boiler/utility rooms.

• Install pipe plugs, secure tubing and piping, and perform touch-up painting as needed.

• Change light bulbs and climb ladders to complete tasks.

• Operate and maintain the plant water system and air compressors during assigned shifts.

• Assist the Facility Supervisor with additional maintenance and operational duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant gas boiler operation experience, or equivalent combination of advanced education and experience.

• Black Seal Boiler License is required.

• Experience in an aseptic or pharmaceutical packaging environment preferred.

• Strong integrity, self-motivation, and teamwork skills.

• Physical ability to perform medium to heavy lifting and maintenance tasks.
