Job Summary
Our client company is seeking a dedicated Accounts Receivable Specialist responsible for managing insurance claims, addressing patient and clinic billing inquiries, and maintaining accurate records of payments and refunds. The role requires a strong focus on communication, privacy, and accuracy to ensure seamless billing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow up with insurance companies for incorrectly paid, rejected, denied, or non-contractually paid claims.
- Fix rejected claims through the clearinghouse.
- Research insurance over-payments and issue refund checks.
- Answer billing inquiries from patients and/or clinic staff.
- Enter electronic notes for each patient detailing phone calls, denials, re-bills, etc.
- Respond to patient inquiries within 48 hours.
- Send billing requests and/or corrections to the front office and/or verification department as needed.
- Collect unpaid patient balances through letters, emails, and phone calls.
- Respond to faxed requests for account balances from attorneys and scan copies to the patient’s account.
- Process payments over the phone from patients.
- Correct address issues on returned mail.
- Assign accounts to collections when necessary.
- Research patient credits and issue refund checks.
- Maintain communication, courtesy, and professional attitude.
- Ensure confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform all other assigned duties.
