Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Registrar who will be responsible for collecting and processing registration information for new and returning customers, verifying and documenting insurance information, securing patient authorizations and financial clearance, and communicating necessary information to sites of service. The Registrar will act as a key point of contact for patient registrations, address low-level inquiries, and provide customer service orientation and training to staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and process registration information for new and returning customers in English and/or Spanish.
- Verify and document insurance information via phone or electronically.
- Secure patient authorizations and financial clearance in pre-access workflows.
- Communicate necessary information to site of service.
- Respond to low-level inquiries related to scope of services available, policies and procedures.
- Coordinate efficient and expedient access to services through consultation with related departments.
- Answer calls for patient registrations and manage inquiries.
- Distribute information related to departmental activities and policies to affected areas/departments.
- Resolve eligibility alerts 100% before leaving at the end of each shift.
- Provide customer service orientation/training to staff when requested.
- Conduct primary research of complaints received.
- Assist with staff education in the area of performance improvement.
- Participate in departmental and/or interdepartmental performance improvement teams.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form.
- Excellent interpersonal/public relations skills.
- Ability to assess individual customer service needs and evaluate satisfaction with services provided.
- Accurate, efficient data entry skills.
- Knowledge of customer service protocols, including complaint management and customer satisfaction techniques.
- Skill in using data entry, word processing, information systems, analytical and point of service cashiering software products.
- Knowledge of complex policies and procedures.
- Ability to coordinate work processes and functions to meet established deadlines.
- Thorough knowledge of interdepartmental relationships and established “chains of command” for problem resolution.
- Knowledge of quality improvement concepts.
- Ability to recognize the needs, behavioral attributes, and physical characteristics of a variety of customer groups served.
Experience
- High school graduation or equivalent, with a minimum of 18 months' responsible work experience in customer services, public relations, office administration, business and financial operations, healthcare administration, or other closely related experience.
Skills
- Proficiency in data entry, word processing, and analytical software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Efficiency in coordinating work processes to meet deadlines.
