Job Summary
The Scheduler II will be responsible for planning, directing, managing, and coordinating study scheduling, contractor resources, animal availability, and the ordering of animals and supplies. Key responsibilities include creating appropriate laboratory resource schedules for study conduct.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, and coordinate scheduling activities for laboratory studies based on protocol and/or SOP requirements.
- Maintain and update study schedules and calendars.
- Coordinate/schedule animal deliveries.
- Communicate regarding animal and room availability, and scheduling/resource allocation throughout the laboratory.
- Optimize resource management to maximize room utilization.
- Conduct study protocol reviews.
- Communicate with supporting departments on capabilities.
- Forecast lab capabilities.
- Assist in training Scheduler I's.
- Initiate and lead improvement projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- HS/GED required; Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a scientific or related discipline preferred.
- 3-4 years of related scientific environment experience, with 1 year of scheduling experience preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office core applications.
- Advanced written and oral communication skills.
- Understanding of operational procedures in a preclinical environment.
- Familiarity with study design and protocols.
- Knowledge of laboratory operations and data collection.
- Preferred knowledge of GLPs and federal regulations relating to the care of laboratory animals.
- Ability to resolve complex issues.
- Ability to work effectively under time constraints.

Additional Requirements
- Approximately 90% of the time will be spent in an office setting and 10% in the laboratory, with exposure to animal pathogens and chemicals.
- Ability to don and wear personal protective gear, including N95 masks and respirators.
- Physical ability to lift and carry up to 25lbs.
- Ability to work beyond typical work schedules, including evenings, weekends, and extended shifts with short notice.
