Job Summary
The Medical Assistant will report to the Residential Manager and deliver milieu services in a trauma-informed modified therapeutic community. The role involves monitoring residential systems and delivering behavioral interventions in a 100-bed, OASAS-licensed residential treatment facility. The Medical Assistant will work closely with other clinical program staff to provide individualized services and interventions to meet the treatment plan goals for residents. The position involves providing a therapeutic environment where residents can address their behaviors, utilize their strengths, and develop necessary life skills free from substance use.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct individual and group behavioral interventions in line with the trauma-informed therapeutic community model.
- Monitor and coordinate residents' attendance at medical, dental, and psychiatric appointments.
- Oversee residents' participation in all residential services, applying interventions for program schedule noncompliance.
- Lead and participate in crisis interventions and document the details accordingly.
- Conduct safety checks and intervene with residents as necessary, reporting observations and recommendations to the team.
- Conduct group counseling sessions and act as a liaison to a clinical counselor.
- Participate in treatment planning as the SUD behavioral expert and document interventions per 820 and CARF standards.
- Supervise residents' daily living activities, including in-house job functions and recreational trips.
Qualifications
- A High School diploma or equivalent is required with valid CASAC. A Master's degree in behavioral science is acceptable if the applicant applies for CASAC-T within 90 days of hire.
- One year of related work experience in a Residential Therapeutic Community setting is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of strengths-based counseling, cognitive-behavioral treatment, and behavior modification practices.
- Weekend availability is required.
- Current adult CPR and First Aid certifications are a plus.
- Competency with computer-based programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook email, Relias, and Electronic Health records.
