Virtual Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner (Remote) – Contract Position

This opportunity is offered through Medix, a national healthcare staffing agency, in partnership with one of our top clients committed to delivering high-quality, accessible healthcare across the country. We are currently seeking Nurse Practitioners to join their virtual care team and provide compassionate, evidence-based primary care via telehealth.

Brief Overview of the Position:

• Fully remote – provide care from the comfort of your own space
• Pay rate: $60–$65/hour (hourly pay – not per assessment)
• Positions available at 40, 32, or 20 hours per week
• See patients of all ages for acute and chronic conditions such as: cold, cough, flu, strep throat, UTIs, COVID, rashes, nasal congestion, sore throats, allergies, eye concerns, depression, and anxiety
• Patient volume: ~3 patients per hour
• EMR: Athenahealth
• Contract duration: Late September 2025 – February 2026
• Flexible start dates available from late September to mid-December 2025
• 1099 contractor position (malpractice insurance is covered)
• Flexible schedule – work any 7 days/week, including evenings and weekends

Mandatory Role Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited Master’s or Doctoral-level Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program, with prior graduation from an accredited nursing school
• Active Nurse Practitioner (NP) license and maintained Registered Nurse (RN) licensure, in accordance with state requirements
• Current national certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner through AANP or ANCC
• Active multi-state licensure
• Minimum 3+ years post-training experience in high-volume Urgent Care or Primary Care settings
• Experience providing care to newborns through adult populations
• Ability to function within an integrated medical practice
• Strong clinical acumen with the ability to manage a broad range of conditions
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and patient engagement skills
• Proficiency with technology and electronic medical records (EMRs)
• Active Medicare status – in good standing with Medicare/Medicaid and not excluded from participation in federal health programs

State License Requirements:

• NP must hold at least 3 active state licenses from the following list:
• NY, WA, AZ, VA, IA, IL, CO, NV, AR, UT, MD, KY, OR, MA, KS
• If the NP holds an active Texas (TX) license, then only 1 additional license from the list above is required
• If the NP does not have at least 3 active licenses from the list above but does have an active multi-state license, you are still encouraged to apply to learn more about the position

Responsibilities:

• Function independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical examinations
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests as needed
• Determine, plan, and initiate appropriate treatment, and adjust treatment if necessary
• Prescribe medications
• Document medical information of patients and review patient history at each visit
• Evaluate response to treatments and medications
• Request consultation or referral with other health care providers when appropriate
• Counsel and educate patients
• Provide preventative care
• Manage pediatric and adult patients for both acute and chronic conditions
• Create patient care plans and contribute to existing care plans
• Actively maintain knowledge of current medical research and trends
• Provide administrative support or cross-coverage for reviewing laboratory test results and prescription clarifications
• Function within an integrated medical practice
• Strong written and interpersonal skills
• Ability to obtain both RN and NP licensure in additional states
