Job Summary
Our client is seeking an Insurance Verification Representative responsible for coordinating effective and efficient surgery scheduling processes with physician offices and managing patient insurance verifications. The role involves ensuring all business office functions related to scheduling and insurance are complete, communicating schedules and financial information with patients, and ensuring the completion of the prior authorization process.
Key Responsibilities
- Integrate the mission, vision, and values into daily interactions.
- Manage surgical scheduling calls and coordinate patient flow.
- Collect and schedule accurate patient data on all surgeries and procedures.
- Deliver excellent customer service when interacting with physicians, patients, families, vendors, and peers.
- Visit physician offices with the Business Office Manager to build relationships.
- Notify appropriate personnel about special requests by surgeons.
- Verify insurance coverage and assure pre-certifications/referrals are filed before surgeries.
- Contact patients pre-operatively with co-payment and deductible amounts due.
- Keep open communication between physician offices and the facility.
- Log cancellations and maintain accurate statistical information in the software system.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience in a medical office, preferably in an Ambulatory Surgery Center.
- Knowledge of insurance contracts and managed care.
- Motivated, willing to learn, with a proactive attitude.
- ASC scheduling experience is highly valued due to surgeon demands.
- Understanding of Medicare, Blue Cross, UHC, and other Managed Care/Commercial insurances.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and multitask.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in surgery scheduling and insurance verification, preferably in an Ambulatory Surgery Center setting.
