Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dedicated Hospital Collections Specialist who will be primarily responsible for managing assigned accounts from billing through to payment or referral to an agency. The role requires effective interaction with internal and external customers and adherence to policies and procedures while maintaining a professional image.
Responsibilities / Job Duties
- Consistently maintain the targeted level of days receivable for assigned accounts.
- Monitor high dollar accounts and provide follow-ups due to financial impact.
- Prepare cumulative payer reports for stop loss reimbursement at time of final billing.
- Research accounts to resolve disputes or questions and ensure timely and complete follow-up.
- Interact effectively with patients and guarantors, resolving account problems satisfactorily.
- Maintain accurate individual procedure manuals and review account payment postings.
- Assist with managed care contract feedback and conduct weekly/monthly payer discussions.
- Perform quality assurance by reviewing and validating final payer project summaries.
- Demonstrate knowledge of DRG/Per Diem/Contract reimbursement and authorization regulations.
- Handle appeals for underpaid and denied accounts according to policy.
- Explain financial and hospital policies to patients satisfactorily.
- Utilize CPT/ICD-10 and UB-04 reference material effectively.
- Display proficient communication skills both verbally and in writing.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills
- Medical collection knowledge and experience with major payers like Blue Cross, LA Care, and Healthnet.
- Understanding of denials and the collection process.
- Proficient multitasking skills, such as managing multiple account tasks concurrently.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
Schedule / Shift
8:30am - 5:00pm, 5 days a week onsite.
