Overview:
A leading behavioral health provider is seeking an experienced and visionary Program Director to lead its new Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Day Treatment and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) in Brookline, MA. This program is designed to serve youth ages 8–12 and 13–17 who are navigating complex mental health and co-occurring substance use challenges.
This is a unique opportunity for a strategic, compassionate leader to direct a multidisciplinary team delivering trauma-informed care within a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and IOP setting. The ideal candidate will bring deep clinical expertise, strong operational leadership, and a profound passion for improving youth mental health outcomes. The facility is expected to open in late August or early September, with initial training provided in Concord, MA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical & Operational Oversight:
- Oversee the daily operations of the Psychiatric Day Treatment and Intensive Outpatient Program, ensuring a maximum capacity of approximately 30 clients.
- Ensure strict compliance with all clinical, medical, and operational regulatory standards and accreditation requirements.
- Partner closely with the Medical Director to seamlessly coordinate psychiatric and therapeutic services.
- Lead performance improvement initiatives and maintain robust safety protocols throughout the program.
- Team Leadership & Supervision:
- Hire, retain, and develop a top-quality clinical and administrative team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate care.
- Provide direct supervision to an administrative assistant, a Lead Clinician, a Nurse Practitioner (with Medical Director oversight), approximately five clinicians, two behavioral technicians, and interns.
- Facilitate daily operational meetings and weekly interdisciplinary team meetings.
- Manage a smaller caseload initially, as clinicians are hired and onboarded.
- Program Strategy & Growth:
- Track and analyze program data to evaluate effectiveness, identify trends, and guide continuous improvements.
- Collaborate on strategic planning and innovation to support program expansion and enhance outcome tracking.
- Manage relationships with external vendors, including those for billing, environmental services, and other essential services.
- Fiscal Responsibility:
- Maintain stringent cost control and adhere to program budgets.
- Align clinical goals with financial targets to ensure the long-term sustainability and success of the program.
Qualifications:
Required Skills & Experience (Must-Haves):
- Education & Licensure:
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Current and active independent clinical licensure (LICSW, LMHC, or equivalent) held for a minimum of three (3) years. LICSW preferred.
- Experience:
- Three (3) or more years of experience in a psychiatric or substance use treatment facility, with specific and demonstrated experience in child and adolescent care.
- Solid knowledge of clinical operations within PHP/IOP settings, including comprehensive understanding of behavioral health regulations and accreditation standards.
- Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams, develop and implement programs, and oversee cross-functional operations.
- Working knowledge of fiscal management principles and vendor coordination.
