Support the Self-Pay Billing Office | Potential for Hybrid Work
We are seeking four (4) Customer Service Specialists to join a reputable healthcare organization in downtown Chicago. These roles are part of the Self-Pay Billing Office (SBO) and involve managing patient accounts through inbound and outbound communications. Based on performance, there is an opportunity to transition to a hybrid schedule.
Open Positions:
1. Self-Pay Collections Representatives (Outbound)

Place outbound calls to patients regarding outstanding balances

Negotiate prompt payment discounts
-
Set up payment plans per departmental guidelines
-
Work in a soft collections environment—firm yet empathetic communication is essential
2. Customer Service Representatives (Inbound)

Respond to inbound calls related to billing questions, statement balances, and account disputes

Analyze patient accounts and Explanation of Benefits (EOBs)
-
Investigate billing or insurance issues and initiate claim resubmissions when needed
Qualifications:
-
Minimum 1 year of experience in billing or collections (preferably in a call center setting)

Healthcare experience highly preferred (hospital or professional billing)

Strong communication and negotiation skills with an empathetic approach

Comfortable with both inbound and outbound call activity, including financial discussions

Bilingual in Spanish is a strong plus
Details:

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Pay: $18–$23 per hour (commensurate with experience)

Dress Code: Business casual (jeans not permitted)

Parking: No onsite parking. Street parking only. Public transit highly recommended.

Length: ~800 hours (approx. 5 months) | Contract-to-Hire

Paid Sick and Safe Leave:

Paid Leave for Any Reason:
Employees can accrue up to 40 hours annually to use at their discretion. Any unused accrued leave at the end of an assignment will be paid out.
Accrual Rate:
Employees accrue 1 hour of paid leave for every 30 hours worked for both categories simultaneously. For example, working 30 hours in a week results in 2 hours of accrued leave:
- 1 hour under the Sick and Safe Leave category (not paid out at the end of an assignment).
- 1 hour under the Paid Leave for Any Reason category (paid out at the end of an assignment).
