Position Summary:

The A/R Representative is responsible for managing the collections and reimbursement process for rental durable medical equipment (DME) accounts. This role ensures timely follow-up on outstanding claims and balances, with a focus on maximizing revenue and maintaining compliance with payer guidelines, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and manage open A/R related to DME rental accounts (e.g., hospital beds, CPAPs, oxygen concentrators).

• Initiate collection activities through phone, email, or electronic portals with third-party payers, patients, and responsible parties.

• Review remittance advice (ERA/EOB) for payment accuracy, denials, and underpayments.

• Resolve denied or rejected claims by identifying root causes, correcting errors, and resubmitting claims as needed.

• Track rental timelines and authorization requirements to ensure ongoing eligibility and timely billing (e.g., 13-month Medicare rental cycle).

• Maintain documentation for each collection effort in the billing system to support compliance and audit readiness.

• Coordinate with intake, billing, and customer service teams to verify patient data, insurance coverage, and delivery documentation.

• Escalate uncollectible accounts for review, potential write-off, or bad debt referral.

• Stay up to date on payer-specific guidelines, including CMS policies for DME rentals and recurring billing.
